Report

Another 3-0 defeat, but yet again this was a positive performance to follow on from last week's display. Playing a team that had won 3 on the bounce, scoring 15 goals in the process, and having 7 - yes, 7 - players unavailable, it was a miracle we even had 11 on the pitch. Former skipper Fossie returned at the back and Rich Walker was thrown into his first game post-Christmas as we re-shuffled to a 3-5-2 formation.
That positivity, however, didn't extend to the first 10 minutes: by that point we were 2-0 down, cut apart easily from midfield runs that we just didn't deal with, leaving Moody exposed. It could have been worse had Moody not saved after Ollie's back pass let in their striker.
But rather than the heads going down, for the remaining 80 minutes we were solid and played some excellent football, just missing that final cutting edge. Fos and the gaffer were enjoying playing together down the right and we created a lot of in-roads that way, but more often than not we didn't have enough players hitting the box when we did get in great positions.
Into the second half and it was much of the same, some excellent possession without ever really testing their keeper. That didn't happen until the last 20 minutes when we pushed Fos up top and the big man had two great chances, once clattered by the keeper (but he wasn't the last man, the ref somehow decided) and then given offside when he was clearly on. Pushing forward always meant we may be exposed at the back, but their third was still disappointing - a run wasn't tracked and a pot shot from outside the box squeezed into the corner, adding gloss to a scoreline Fulham frankly didn't deserve.
All players on the pitch gave their all, from Kieran and Lynham up top who fed off scraps but kept running, to a back three that was solid after the first 10 minutes (and special mention to Glen who came on and looked at home in the midfield). However, the facts speak for themselves: we are back on bottom, making next week's game against Brockham a must win.
